With a collection of basics and neutrals, at arms reach, it’s easy to add pops of color for an outfit that is classic, but modern, and totally international. For tweens, you may find that other kids begin asking where your kids shop, and where they’ve gotten certain items. Originality, in a classic way, can cause quite the stir in middle school. And kids want to look a little more sophisticated than they are. The majority of the girls in schools will go for classic, european, over cheap and trashy any day. Even in 6th grade, a lot kids are following some fashion someone on Tumblr, reading Teen Vogue, or blogging. Stand back and watch the creative sparks fly!

so this was a first day of school photo of one of my girls, notice the detached look in my daughter's eyes! I was completely annoying her. she took some major chances with her pattern play in 8th grade, and the look totally works. the shirt was from a local thrift store, the skirt was jcp, the flats payless.

There was a Scandinavian blog that I followed for a bit. It was awesome, and the super stylish and gorgeous mom, dressed her beauties in a mix of black, white, and a pop of colour. If anyone knows who's blog this is, please let me know, as I can't find it now. But, these images are from her blog a few years ago. love love love!

these images are from an unknown, chic, gorgeous source. but they completely sell me on black, white, and a pop of colour!

edit....101

Once babies grow out of the initial baby shower loot, and begin to walk, it’s time to edit their wardrobes from the rainbow of colors that they’ve outgrown. Pastels are lovely, and pink is one of my favorite colors, but narrowing a color palette is a great way to mix and match. Also, a wardrobe full of baby colors makes it more difficult to repurpose clothes later.

Narrow clothes to a palette that you’re comfortable with. I recommend white, grey, black, navy, tan and khaki, and what ever colors are your child’s favorites.
Stripes are a great basic as well, they are timeless and oh so French. White is such a terrific foundation, as it can be worn year round and is bleach-able. Stick to machine washable fabrics.
